Eric White Named Executive Director of Upper Saco Valley Land Trust Ahead of 25th Anniversary in 2025
Conway, NH - Upper Saco Valley Land Trust (USVLT) has hired Eric White as its new Executive Director. He will start May 20.
White was long-serving Education Director at Old Sturbridge Village before moving to the Boston Society for Architecture, where he became Executive Director in 2013.
“Over his decade-plus at the helm of BSA, he and colleagues grew the budget to $5 million, expanded the endowment to $12 million and refocused the nonprofit’s mission toward greater societal needs, such as designing climate-resilient communities,” said Mike Laracy, USVLT Search Chair.
White is a history graduate of Denison University. He and his wife, Melissa, live in Wolfeboro, and he has 3 adult stepchildren and 5 grandchildren. Eric loves kayaking and other outdoor activities and is a fine arts wood crafter.
USVLT President Doug Burnell said, “Eric White’s distinguished leadership record embodies the selfless ethic that drives charitable enterprise. His strategic planning and financial expertise will help USVLT multiply its land-protection efforts, especially as we celebrate our 25th anniversary next year.”
Burnell continued, “Our land trust is thriving, with a strong balance sheet, a devoted member-donor base, and a big appetite to conserve yet more lands for community benefit. We believe Eric is the person to lead this crucial effort.”
"I am excited to be joining USVLT and the deeply committed board, staff, members, and volunteers dedicated to conserving the forests, farmlands, and natural beauty of New Hampshire and Maine that help make this a great place to live, work, and play,” White said.
USVLT Vice President Lindsay Kafka said, “Eric is poised to expand USVLT’s work and regional impact and lead with strategic visioning. He will build on the momentum of his executive director predecessors: William Abbott, Mark Dindorf, and Jen Pribble, all of whom contributed vitally and oversaw significant project achievements.”
Upper Saco Valley Land Trust has protected 12,000 acres since 2000, averaging 500 acres yearly. The trust owns 19 preserves and has 63 conservation easements in its eleven-town New Hampshire and Maine service area. www.usvlt.org.
