The Fryeburg Town Forest Project
Introduction
Fryeburg Town Forest, a 62.9-acre land in Fryeburg, ME, is a beloved place to the residents of Fryeburg. The Town of Fryeburg, in its desire to conserve this land and what makes it special, donated a conservation easement to the Upper Saco Valley Land Trust.
About
Fryeburg Town Forest contains 28 acres of softwood, 16 acres of hardwood, 21 acres of mixed forest, and 4 acres of fields. The land is located within the Upper Saco River Focus Area, which protects the area's natural wetland inhabitants. The conservation agreement protects:
- A Silver Maple Floodplain Forest.
- Scenic enjoyment from the Saco River and Fryeburg's Main Road.
- Open space, particularly conserving the productive forest land, productive soil, and the forest's capacity to produce economically valuable forestry products.
- AA and A-rated water quality from the Saco River.
- A one mile trail loop.
