Our 40th land conservation project was the establishment of the Gerson – Margolis Preserve in Center Conway. In honor of the late Eleanor Gerson and her life-long commitment to Conway Lake, Ms. Gerson’s descendants gave USVLT this 138-acre tract of forest land outright. We are particularly grateful to the Gerson Margolis family for this generous contribution because it builds on a network of other conserved lands in the Conway Lake watershed. This additional acreage will help protect the lake’s good water quality.
“This tract of land has been well-managed over the years as a working forest. Together with 12 other properties and more than 1,600 acres of land around Conway Lake that have already been protected by the Land Trust, we can be assured that Conway Lake will remain pristine for generations to come. The Gerson Margolis family, together with many neighboring landowners, have protected a beautiful natural asset for Conway’s residents and visitors alike. We thank them for their vision and generosity”
